Millennium Fellowship Project: Project PlanetWise

I am passionate about environmental conservation and the advancement of scientific knowledge in the schools and universities of India which is what led to the development of project PlanetWise.
The advancement of scientific knowledge in schools and universities is crucial for a number of reasons. First and foremost, scientific knowledge allows us to better understand the world around us, from the smallest subatomic particles to the largest galaxies. This understanding can lead to the development of new technologies and solutions to problems that affect society as a whole. Furthermore, the pursuit of scientific knowledge is a never-ending process that requires curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity. By encouraging students to engage in scientific inquiry and discovery, we can help them develop these skills and become better problem-solvers, innovators, and leaders. Finally, the advancement of scientific knowledge can have a profound positive impact on the environment as more people will understand global warming and be motivated to mitigate it.
A raging topic of current debate is of course global warming and climate change. I have noticed that a huge chunk of the Indian population, especially people from rural areas, are quite unaware of the impacts that climate change has on the world and how they could contribute in small ways towards building a community that strives towards creating a sustainable future. Even though the Government is working towards these goals by implementing various schemes, the general public remains largely unaware. I therefore wish to impart such awareness and knowledge at the community level through my project PlanetWise.
Through my project, I plan to start a scientific knowledge community or a social media page in my university through which I'll try to inculcate a sense of (a) environmental protection and (b) scientific temper among the student body. This project also aims at spreading awareness about these issues in the village schools around my university campus.
