" I want to be a Millennium Fellow because I want to positively affect lives. Through research and a thorough understanding of what MCN does and values, I am determined to be a member of this fellowship. I am aiming to build up, strengthen, & harness my leadership skills through local, national, and global community social impacts. Going through The Millennium Fellowship leadership seminar will be a great avenue for me to learn how to clarify my ideas, focus on my efforts, use my time and resources efficiently & achieve my goals for my intended project. Millennium Fellowship Project: Mental Amnesty for Women

I like to liken the mind or mental health of a person to that of a flower. If it does not blossom, bloom or yield fruits, you don't blame the flower, instead, you fault the environment; you check the soil, the light it receives, the amount of water it gets, etc.
The "Mental Amnesty for Women" is a project created to build an enabling environment for women/young girls to grow; reenable their minds, and their physical appearances, empower them (especially the younger ones), and find hope, solace, and peace to fully thrive in their world.
Human rights are innate to everyone, irrespective of race, nationality, religion, gender, and any other distinguishing factor. But there has been an evident infringement of fundamental rights for women, due to religious/ethnic/cultural/judiciary customs. The "Mental Amnesty for Women" is a platform for Nigerian women, to relearn and change certain narratives of themselves that society/culture/circumstances have made them believe. It serves as a support system for women; to enlighten women on their basic rights as well as the ones infringed upon, and a mental growth group. As WHO states, “There can be no health or sustainable development without mental health".
During these 4 months, I expect that:
• An assessment will be carried out to find out the mental needs of the targeted women with the help of trained professionals.
• Group therapy sessions will be held after the assessment. A podcast platform will be set up to discuss with the women so the online audience is enlightened.
• A diet plan will be organized for the woman, that is after a health practitioner/dietician educates them on the importance of eating healthily. Physical training such as aerobics, and long brisk walks around the district twice a week to develop physical fitness.
• A book club will be arranged for both young girls & boys to read and learn valuable life skills as well as workshops for girls to hone skills for themselves
• Gardening/Farming, and environmental cleaning, will be done for an hour and 30 minutes on the weekends at the end of the month to create a clean, vibrant, and healthy environment.
• A Donor Advised Fund account will be opened to raise a minimum of ₦200,000 to support the women in areas they could be financially supported.
There will be assigned days for both genders to interact and other days for just the girls; to talk with them and work with them.
