Millennium Fellowship Project: Gyan Samarth

Our project, GyanSamarth, focuses on empowering less privileged children by offering primary education, promoting digital literacy, holding skill-development workshops, and raising public awareness. Being a part of the Rotaract Club of DTU Regency, I along with other members of the club started a digital literacy program as physical visits were not possible during the pandemic. Under this program, a diverse range of topics is taught to students depending on their requirements and interests. We also regularly visit these students for classes and conduct regular doubt-clearing sessions for them. In order to ensure the overall development of their skills, we regularly conduct events in collaboration with NGOs to promote the spirit of competitiveness, sportsmanship, leadership and teamwork. One such sports fest, URJA was organized by us which included various games and sports competitions and saw active participation from over 200 kids ranging from the age of 10 to 21. We also hold regular in-kind and monetary donation drives to support these children with resources and finances to ensure quality education accessible to all. Our flagship event, Uphaar- The Diwali Mela, and regular book donation drives help us in raising a sizeable amount of donations for these students. We aim to create a larger impact by connecting with more NGOs and selected centres in Delhi where we can provide the right education and guidance to passionate and ambitious students.

About the Millennium Fellow

Arnav Anand is a young technology enthusiast who thrives to inculcate his learnings in bringing change. An IT undergrad, he has done his schooling from Delhi and is currently pursuing bachelor's in technology from Delhi Technological University. At school, he has volunteered in education for persons with special needs and thus understands their requirements. Taking this forward, he has also volunteered in Hunger Project camps organized by his school to feed and distribute clothes to underprivileged people in Delhi. He also works on educating students who have limited resources via collaborative efforts. He says his comfort lies in bringing the little changes he can by the knowledge he was fortunate enough to garner.
