Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Aarosh

Project Aarosh is a community-driven initiative with a mission to tackle plastic pollution and achieve sustainable waste management practices. Rooted in the belief that small actions can lead to significant change, Aarosh focuses on the innovative use of EcoBricks as a solution to repurpose plastic waste. The project operates on a dual front, both as an environmental conservation effort and a community-building endeavor.

Central to Aarosh is the meticulous collection of plastic waste within the community, diverting it away from landfills and oceans. This collected plastic undergoes a transformative process to become EcoBricks—versatile building materials with a unique environmental impact. Aarosh transcends traditional waste reduction models by utilizing EcoBricks to construct tangible, eco-friendly structures. From benches in public parks to walls in school gardens, each structure not only serves a functional purpose but also stands as a visible testament to the community's commitment to responsible waste management.

The project's heartbeat lies in community engagement and education. Through targeted awareness campaigns, workshops, and educational programs, Aarosh aims to cultivate a shared sense of responsibility and environmental consciousness. The collection and segregation of plastic waste as well as manufacturing EcoBricks and its subsequent furniture is done by the underprivileged community residing in North-West Delhi, hence providing them with a self-sustainable alternate source of income.
