Millennium Fellowship Project: The Recycling Bin Project

The Recycling Bin Project aims to improve the issues that come with improper recycling and general illiteracy on local recycling methods available to our local community. Due to improper recycling in the past, our campus was fined, and all recycling efforts were stopped, meaning that many otherwise good resources were wasted and thrown away rather than recycled. Our project is working with the University operations team to bring back a recycling initiative that would reform our current garbage disposal sites for the residences. Additionally, we provide information and guides to students and faculty on how to properly separate and recycle different types of waste.

About the Millennium Fellow

Justin Jim Blasig is an international student in his senior year, studying Biology/pre-med at Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL, USA. Jim is passionate about how human interactions with one another, and their surroundings leave lasting impacts that affect more than just their immediate community. As a biology major, much of his education taught him about the grand effects simple actions by individuals can have on the ecosystem around them. Through his project, he hopes to help fellow students from other majors see the importance of preserving nature. Jim plans to make an impact in underserved regions after studying medicine.
