" My project aims to empower a group of individuals I have always admired and wanted to more intentionally serve: women living in the Guatemala City garbage dump communities - women with lives marked by trial and trauma but ones that are set on coming out triumphant. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Oso Microenterprise
Oso is a sustainable business that employs women, self identified as living with trauma, in the Guatemala City garbage dump communities to handmake artisan stuffed teddy bears, empowering them to make double their community's average income.
About the Millennium Fellow
Global service has been and always will be the most fundamental part of my upbringing. Beginning in Guatemala at the age of eight, my background has been marked by service - ranging from global service endeavors to local efforts. In the past 11 years, I have grown a lot, along with my love for serving others. Today, I feel that I am more equipped than ever to make an impact, still with a pressing question: how?
