UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT SINEM KIRCALI, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2021.
Koç University | İstanbul, Turkey | Advancing SDG 4 & UNAI 5
" While applying to Millennium Fellowship I had a chance to thoroughly research UN’s sustainable development goals and social impact principles which helped me transform my objectives to a project. I was impressed by what this organization stands for and even during the application process, which is the very beginning of this journey, I felt that I was one step closer to my goals. Also, I believe that the impact a person can create on her own is very limited. Millennium Fellowship is a great opportunity for me to work collaboratively with others, become a part of a global community, and gain skills to create more solid, creative, and sustainable social impact projects. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Omerdeyim: Student Portal
Omerdeyim: Student Portal is a website to gather a community for sharing lecture notes, tutoring, socializing and studying together. As the pandemic caused students to have weaker connections with their academic life, limited their social relations and diminished their motivation we detected the need for an online social center. Through omerdeyim.com, anyone who desires to learn can collaborate on enhancing the standards of their learning process. The project aimed to develop the educational standards during the pandemics, as online education is both a challenge and an opportunity for the learning environment. By creating a website that is designed to share notes, educational links, tutor/teacher advice, course feedback etc. and meet to study together and support each other online mentally and motivationally. By the help of Millennium Fellowship, we are planning to extend the scale of the platform and aim to reach more people motivated to study whether they are university students or someone that aims to grow his/her knowledge on the available content hopefully within August-December 2021.
