Millennium Fellowship Project: Sharing the Differences to Nurture Skills

The objective of the project at hand is the acquisition of skills among differently-abled students. The targeted group includes students with physical disabilities like those who are wheelchair-bound. It does not cater to the needs of children with cognitive impairment, vision impairment, hearing loss, and others of its kind. The main focus of the project is on fostering the skills that help prepare children for a better future and brings them to deal with real-life problems head-on-head instead of focusing on theoretical problems. Therefore, only students from primary or middle school are considered for this project as they are one getting ready for entering their practical lives. A class of 10-50 students will be commenced for a minimum duration of 7 to 8 weeks. The module for these sessions will be so designed that each week student learns a new set of skills that prepares them for a better future and helps them to understand and advance sustainable development goals.

About the Millennium Fellow

"I am only one, but I am one I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do" Edvard Everett Hale.
Since the very early days of her life, she never had the stereotypical dream of becoming a doctor or an engineer when she grew up but her vision was instead something that has shaped her goals and decisions throughout her life: becoming a defender of justice like Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal, Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy, and the former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Saqib Nisar. And, for this reason, she has not only, all these years, educated herself well and learned to advocate for herself but also for others.
Amna Ramzan has opted for law as a field of study to ensure justice is impartial and that it serves everybody equally, which she feels now has always been her destiny; and this intuitive notion solidified her thoughts for doing LLB and opting for Millennium Fellowship .
Her interest in law is not piqued by black coats shimmering glamorously in movies, dramas, and newspapers and lawyers outfoxing their opponents in dazzling displays of ingenuity, showcasing astute and discerning methods of legal enquiry, but what wooed her was the injustices of the world, bothering her since childhood, to help people around her to find the right way to deal with the maze of life, stand up for the oppressed, bring criminals to book, and contribute a genuine passion and enthusiasm to invoke positive change, and ensure "Rule of Law".
Amna Ramzan would like to describe herself as a very determined learner and the best quality that she likes about herself is her passion to learn new things. She is a goal-oriented person and has positive attitude also. To sum up her academic propensity, she is proud to say that she attained first division throughout her educational career, with A grades.
During her studies as a freshman of science at college, she has built up a solid foundation of practical knowledge as well as a rich experience of social activities. Her academic learning and experiences as a Girl Guide have led to the development of various skills in her such as hard work, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, problem solving, decision making, and self-confidence. Furthermore, she is ambitious and likes to handle challenging tasks and to take responsibility for them.
After realizing the importance of indulging in activities in all areas of life, she began to dedicate more time for sports like badminton, cycling, and cricket as well as analyzing and interpreting complex texts such as political speeches, factual research, public speaking, and calligraphy. Participating in these activities not only inculcated the spirit of teamwork and tolerance in her but also improved her thinking ability.
"The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future life", Plato noted.

Although she sees law as more than a career choice, to her it as a stepping stone from which she wishes to propel herself into a position where she would be able to influence and enhance the lives of others. Yet, her professional goal is to develop a career in the public sector and to strive for justice and positive outcomes for clients who have been treated unfairly.
Although she knows that life is unpredictable and that we can never have even the slightest idea what fate has in store for us, but believing in the words of Cushing, Richard C.,
"Always plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark".
she eagerly awaits the beginning of the next stage of her life and looks forward to her future legal career and successful Millennium Fellowship .
