Millennium Fellowship Project: SHE READS
In Nigeria, a large percentage of out of school children are females. The 'SHE READS' program is aimed at reaching out to young girls between the ages of 5-18 in order to empower these girls and contribute to quality education using literature in forms of storybooks and other educational materials. I strongly believe in the saying that "Reader are Leaders" and if we want more females occupying higher places in the future we need them to be prepared. It is immensly important that gender equality is also attained and sustained in the area of eduation. It is not just about providing them with these books, but it is also very necessary that the young girls are monitored and that those of them who have reading challenges are watched more closely and actions are taken in order for them to improve.
