" I want to help my campus and community, and the Millennium Fellowship empowers students to do exactly that. The Fellowship also places emphasis on leadership skills and developing collaborative skills. My project is centered on creating a student organization, which is something that requires the development of those skills. I believe that the Millennium Fellowship will empower my the creation of this student organization and create positive change on my campus. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Students Against Campus Sexual Assault

I will be founding a student organization on my campus devoted to raising awareness about sexual violence on campus, especially against women. This organization will raise awareness through flyer campaigns, recruiting guest speakers, and connecting with Young Women Calling for Action as a chapter of their organization.

About the Millennium Fellow

Meenakshi Manoj is a double major in Economics and International Affairs at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She was born in India but has lived in Boulder most of her life, and considers her campus a part of her hometown community. Meenakshi has always been interested in social equity and developed an interest in the UN sustainable development goals. Growing up in Boulder, she has seen the impact sexual assault can have on university campuses and how important it is for students to be involved as a voice against it. The UN Millennium Fellowship was an opportunity for her and her groupmates to begin founding a group for students to address and curb sexual assault on campus. This organization furthers SDGs by opening a student-led dialogue on sexual assault on campus, often perpetuated against women and members of the LGBTQ community. This organization is by students, for students.
