" My vision of a peaceful and less-distressed world devoid of mental and physical abuse fuels my passion for the Millennium Fellowship Project. With my strong support towards educating the young minds about the after lives of a rape victim, I aim at devising supportive actions that can create an indelible impact in the society. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Afterlives of Rape Survivors
Through this project, we want to highlight 'After lives of a rape victim' in front of the society. A topic that is rarely discussed, and which is generally underrated. As we belong to the girl's college and can understand the challenges and hardships faced by them, we want to educate people about the impact it creates on a victim. Our goal is to empower women in society.
For the execution, we want to educate students both men and women, especially young minds, who may not even be aware of the importance of it. We can target non-governmental organizations (NGOs) like Pink Legal Club that work on these issues. Our goal is to educate people on how to treat them equally, give them equal opportunities, and guide people that they are victims and that the necessary support should be provided.
For this, we can design modules from the ground up by doing research and gaining insight into the thoughts of young people and teens, and then sharing it with them. We can hold a webinar, screen the documentary, host a Nukkad Natak, and hold defence class sessions with college societies to assist us spread the word. If necessary, we can organise a fundraiser at college. We can also arrange counselling sessions or fun activities such as busting myths and stereotypes that women have been subjected to for a long time. Furthermore, we might concentrate on sex education and sexual assault, both of which are overlooked in Indian education system. Finally, we will offer them with government helpline numbers and assistance for rape victims, as well as lead them through the legal process for justice. It will be advantageous to avoid rape if the male sector of society is taught about these topics.
