" Indeed, the Millennium Fellowship provides an excellent platform for individuals like myself to gain knowledge and understanding of international affairs and contribute to the SDG in a meaningful way. By participating in the fellowship, I collaborated with like-minded individuals, learned from experienced leaders and experts, and worked towards creating a better world.

Greek's quote, "With knowledge comes understanding," highlights the importance of education and learning in positively impacting the world. By gaining knowledge and understanding of international affairs and the SDG goals, I'm better equipped to tackle the complex issues facing our world today and make a meaningful contribution to society. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: SDG Walk

"One man awake,
Awakens another;
The second awakens
His next-door brother.
The three awake can rouse a town..."

SDG WALK was a project about the enlightenment of the public and also a way of shaping public opinion about the SDGs. The project (SDG Walk) falls under sdg17 - Partnership for the goals. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a global effort to address the most pressing challenges of our time. They comprise a set of 17 goals, each addressing a different area of human well-being. The goals were set by the United Nations in 2015 and represent the most significant global effort to battle poverty, inequality and climate change ever undertaken. SDG Walk was saddled with the responsibility of enlightening people about the 17 goals in a fun way and encouraging them to realise them.

During the project, we partnered with some bodies, which include AIESEC in Benin, the yali network, Edo State, and the Edo state office of Sustainable Development Goals. As a campus director, I led the team. The essence of this partnership is to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the global teaching partnership for sustainable development by beginning in our localities, Benin City, Edo State, #Nigeria, Africa.

The University of Benin Cohort A carried out the project on the 14th of November, 2022. The SDG WALK was a 3.2 km walk(trek) from the University of Benin main gate to Uselu market. During the walk, we shared fliers and engaged with people about the SDGs and how they can contribute their quota to achieving them. We also employed different infographics to facilitate an easy understanding of what each SDG aims to achieve. We gave back to society by carrying out a cleanup at the market and teaching people how to properly dispose of their waste according to the various categories as a result of being helpful. (This was one of the discussion topics at the third training session.)

We achieved our goal with over four hours of cleaning, enlightening people, and a volunteer force of over 100+ vibrant youths of 300+ lives impacted. The feedback from the general public and individuals we engaged with has helped strengthen our resolve to keep contributing to the SDGs in any way we can.

We ended the day with a mountain of filled refuse bags, a cleaner city, and happy and enlightened people ready to spread the good news of the SDGs for "One man Awake, Awakens Another."
