" "Immense gratitude for the opportunities that I have had access to is what drives my ambition. I believe that everyone in the world has potential, yet sadly not everyone is able to reach that potential due to the circumstances they were born into. I hope the skills and experience I gain from being a Millennium Fellow allow me to create social impact by furthering the UN SDGs and contributing to a more equitable global community." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Transforming Tampa's Transportation

This project is aimed at addressing one aspect of the increasing socioeconomic disparity in the Tampa Bay community by improving the area's public transportation system. The project hopes to engage with members of the community to gain a better understanding of the need for improved public transit between downtown and suburb areas, and how the lack of existing infrastructure reflects overarching social issues. Project goals include organizing events consisting of roundtable discussions with important community figures involved in public transportation and constituents affected by access to public transit.

About the Millennium Fellow

Jasmine Rehman is studying International Relations and Business Analytics/Information Systems at the University of South Florida. Being a first generation child of immigrants from India and Pakistan, Jasmine has always aspired to one day be in a position in which she can contribute to creating a more equitable international community, especially for young girls. She has spent the last few years working with federal, state, and local politicians in her community, trying to understand disparities that stem at the local level and are reflected globally. Jasmine hopes to earn a law degree and pursue a career in advocating for international human rights.
