Millennium Fellowship Project: Care for Wellbeing

Our "Care for Wellbeing" project aims to address the issue of limited access to counselling services for university students. To tackle this problem, we propose expanding the availability of counselling slots by recruiting student volunteers to serve as counsellors. This approach effectively addresses the concerns raised by students, ensuring that they can readily access counselling support without leaving their mental health concerns unaddressed.

CAPS, which stands for Counselling and Psychological Services, is the only service at the University of Melbourne that provides student counselling training. As part of our project, student volunteers will undergo training, including mental health education from CAPS, to guarantee they possess the necessary knowledge and abilities. Our mission is to raise awareness about mental health concerns and emphasize the importance of taking action rather than neglecting them. By proposing our project, we aim to advocate for students in general and reach a broader audience.

About the Millennium Fellow

Pei Han Chang (Sally), a second-year student at the University of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, studies psychology and media and communication. Sally is passionate about achieving #Goal 10: Reducing Inequality. As an international student from Taiwan, she began to realise that the severity of homelessness in Australia is much more serious than she thought.
With the aid of the United Nations Millennium Fellowship, she is looking to organise a campus wide sustainability initiative for broader reach and impacts. In these sessions, she is keen to meet like-minded people, learn to communicate, exchange ideas, anticipate potentials risks and solve problems.
