" I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it aligns with my passion for making a tangible impact through education and leadership. The program's focus on social impact, global collaboration, and sustainable development deeply resonates with my belief in education as a tool for empowerment and transformation. It provides a platform where I can leverage my technical, leadership, and social skills to collaborate with like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and work on projects that contribute to meaningful change. The fellowship is an opportunity to refine my vision, expand my reach, and bring my educational initiatives to a global stage, fostering inclusive growth and development for communities in need. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: EmpowerEd
Project EmpowerEd is an initiative led by a team of 9 students from IIT Madras under the Millennium Fellowship, in collaboration with the Guruji Education Foundation (GEF). Our goal is to expand the SCRATCH coding program across at least 20 schools in Tamilnadu. In today's fast-evolving world, coding is a fundamental skill. SCRATCH, a beginner-friendly programming language, helps students not only learn to code but also fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. By implementing SCRATCH in Tamil Nadu schools, we aim to empower students, particularly economically weaker students, with these vital skills, enhancing their ability to think logically and approach challenges innovatively. We thus aim to close the digital literacy gap, and provide students with future-ready skills.
