On Wednesday, November 9th at 10 am EDT, we host Heinrich Volmink to speak about the South African idea of "UBUNTU" and how we can all incorporate this philosophy in our lives and our work.
Dr Heinrich Volmink is public health physician, specialist advisor and Senior Lecturer Extraordinary in the Division of Health Systems and Public Health (Department of Global Health) of Stellenbosch University. Heinrich previously served as a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of South Africa and sat on its Portfolio Committee on Health. Currently, he consults as Public Health Specialist Advisor to the group (global) health team of Anglo American plc, a major international mining company, and is also developing a biotechnology start-up focused on digital health, preventive medicine and neuroscience. Heinrich has been active in civil society - with a focus on anti-corruption work and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This includes being a participant, over several years, in the Goalkeepers initiative of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (which aims to accelerate progress towards the SDGs) as well as serving as an Associate Fellow of the Ubuntu Global Network.
