ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2018
United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2018, students applied to join the Class of 2018 on 285 campuses across 57 nations. 30 campuses worldwide (just 11%) were selected to host the 402 Millennium Fellows in the global pilot this year.
The Class of 2018 is bold, innovative, and inclusive. During the Millennium Fellowship, Millennium Fellows' dedicated 48,785 hours and their 214 unique projects positively impacted the lives of 393,449 people worldwide.

" Ever since I attended the UN 23rd Conference of Parties and 13th Conference of Youth (COY) and witnessed the dedication of the youth constituency and other global activists, I have been itching to go back. Being the only U.S. participant at COY made me realize youth empowerment and involvement is what I want my future career to encompass. My ability to attend COY in the future is uncertain and thus, I believe being a Millennium Fellow can replicate my experience I had by providing me a network of like-minded individuals who have a passion for local and global change. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Campuses Care About Climate
Campuses Care About Climate aims to connect 10-20 students with other youth environmentalists and activists from around the world in order to expand personal and communities’ global perspectives on the effects of climate change today. Climate change does not discriminate—it is happening now and affecting millions, and youth and other marginalized groups will be the most vulnerable. ASU is known for its diverse undergraduate community and this program will expand this exposure to a global level. Advancing SDG #13 and UNAI principle #9, CCAC recognizes education as the key and primary tool towards an inclusive and effective path of climate action. By showing youth the lived experiences of others from around the world, CCAC will empower them to be active in their community and communicate with their elected officials the urgency of climate action.
About the Millennium Fellow
Tammy Nguyen is an undergraduate student at Arizona State University majoring in Sustainability and double minoring in Spanish Language and Women and Gender Studies. Whilst she is a minority in gender, race, and religion, she recognizes that her privilege as a young, Vietnamese-American female with access to education can increase youth involvement in climate action through a global, intersectional lens. People say youth are the future, but she believes youth are the present.
