Millennium Fellowship Project: Small Business, Big Impact
Small Business Big Impact aimed to improve the improper disposal of trash and recyclables in local Atlanta businesses. We created models called “Disposal Displays” which was a glass box consisting of the recyclable materials based on the establishment’s products. A waste audit was later conduced to measure the level of impact of the "Disposal Displays."
About the Millennium Fellow
I am currently a rising fourth year studying mechanical engineering with two minors in global development and public policy. As I started becoming more aware of the impact humans are making on the environment, I started paying attention to my own instilled habits and the world around me. I realized that there are a plethora of avenues an individual could make their lives more sustainable and how easy it was. However, I also realized that the products that are available to the consumer are more often than not unsustainable or environmentally conscious businesses often follow counter effective practices. Therefore, I am very passionate about bridging the gap of sustainability between the consumer and the businesses providing products and services.
I hope to engage in a career where I can combine engineering with the principles of sustainability and humanitarian aid. I am also interested in the policies that will have to be enacted in order to implement the sustainable regulations we need. Regardless, I am committed to help further the UN's goals throughout my lifetime.
