" I'm so excited to be a Millennium Fellow! I love all efforts aimed at developing more sustainable communities, and I think our project will make a real difference by enhancing recycling and spreading awareness in Atlanta communities. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Small Business, Big Impact
Small Business Big Impact aimed to improve the improper disposal of trash and recyclables in local Atlanta businesses. We created models called “Disposal Displays” which was a glass box consisting of the recyclable materials based on the establishment’s products. A waste audit was later conduced to measure the level of impact of the "Disposal Displays."
About the Millennium Fellow
Hi, I'm Mengqiao. I'm from Watkinsville, Georgia (USA), and I'm a junior majoring in Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech. I'm involved in my school's Association of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AEES), and I mentor incoming freshmen in Emerging Leaders, a freshman leadership organization. I love sustainability and environmental efforts, and I am particularly interested in studying water quality, hydroponics, and sustainable cities. This year I hope to get involved in recycling and composting efforts in Atlanta.
