" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because making positive impacts on the world is what it is all about, People love to say that they want to change the world but never think about changing themselves. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Diabetes Awareness Campaign
Some of the activities that we did was go to different schools and talked about what diabetes was, how you can get it, and that it occurs in not just the elderly but in young people to. We really wanted to get it across young adults heads that just because you are young does not mean you can get diabetes. We held different surveys for the students and asked questions to see what all they had learned.
About the Millennium Fellow
My name is Alexis Coleman from Dallas TX, I am a senior this year at Jarvis Christian College majoring in business management. Some of the things I have volunteered in is the Wellness Project, we went to nursing homes once or twice a week doing different activates with the elderly and held some technology classes. An organization I was a part of was called Enactus where we came up with different projects that can impact the world in many positive ways. When it comes to helping out with the community I love to get people more involved. It is time that we stop saying what we want to do and just do it. We learn from our failures and mistakes, that is what helps us grow.
