ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2018

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2018, students applied to join the Class of 2018 on 285 campuses across 57 nations. 30 campuses worldwide (just 11%) were selected to host the 402 Millennium Fellows in the global pilot this year.

The Class of 2018 is bold, innovative, and inclusive. During the Millennium Fellowship, Millennium Fellows' dedicated 48,785 hours and their 214 unique projects positively impacted the lives of 393,449 people worldwide.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project of Preventive and Restorative Oral Health Care in Schoolchildren

The Project of Preventive and Restorative Oral Health Care in Schoolchildren aged between 5-14 years is a project that aims to educate children of a vulnerable population to promote healthy lifestyle. Two communities will be visited to carry out the following activities: brushing techniques, oral care, oral hygiene, preventive and curative care, simplified oral hygiene index, caries index. Approximately 200 people will benefit from these activities. This project is advising the principal of addressing poverty because the team is focusing on school children of vulnerable populations in their country that can’t afford private health care. Also the commitment of human rights to children that have the right to learn and get the service of oral health.

About the Millennium Fellow

My name is Boris, I'm currently studying dentistry at the Universidad de las Américas. I grew up in Ibarra, I lived for a year at Québec - Canada, then I moved to Quito the capital of Ecuador to study dentistry. I love sports like tennis trekking and mixed martial arts.
I have always like to help people in need, I became a part of AIOI an association of medics and dentists around the world, in 2016, we helped the people affected by the earthquake here ion Ecuador and we achieved other projects in 2017 and 2018.
We also have great projects at my university that return and promote oral health in schoolchildren of vulnerable communities.

I´m thrilled to become a millennium fellow and I look forward to working, learning and achieving positive results with such an amazing group of people.
