ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2018
United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2018, students applied to join the Class of 2018 on 285 campuses across 57 nations. 30 campuses worldwide (just 11%) were selected to host the 402 Millennium Fellows in the global pilot this year.
The Class of 2018 is bold, innovative, and inclusive. During the Millennium Fellowship, Millennium Fellows' dedicated 48,785 hours and their 214 unique projects positively impacted the lives of 393,449 people worldwide.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Sustainable Solutions
Sustainable Solutions will be a competition that invites all Penn students and high school students from Philadelphia to tackle the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the contexts of Penn and Philadelphia. The purpose is to facilitate actionable solutions that will be implemented at Penn or Philadelphia respectively. By November, they intend to hold training and information sessions, provide necessary resources for mentors and competitors to succeed, open the submission portal on our website, and host a kick-off event to introduce this year's themes and judges. This project will address Sustainable Development Goal 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities, and will meet the UN Academic Impact Principle 9, Sustainability.
About the Millennium Fellow
I am a rising junior at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in Earth Science, with a concentration in Environmental Science. My main interest lies in the social impact of sustainable work, with an emphasis on how sustainable development affects low-income or underrepresented communities. I currently do research with my university's office of sustainability, serve as the Co-President for the Earth and Environmental Science Undergraduate Advisory Board, and discuss issues related to campus sustainability as a member of the Student Advisory Group for the Environment. This year, I will also be launching Penn's first environmental residential program for upperclassmen students.
