ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2019

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship.  In the three months the application was open in 2019, over 7,000 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2019 on 1,209 campuses across 135 nations.  69 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 805 Millennium Fellows. 

During the Millennium Fellowship, Millennium Fellows' dedicated 96,705 hours and their 422 unique projects positively impacted the lives of 564,366 people worldwide.

Millennium Fellowship Project: The M.A.AD Project(Medical Student against the abuse of drugs)

MAAD
Medical students Against Abuse of Drugs
This is a pet project by the cohort of Millennium Fellows of the College of Medicine, Univeristy of Lagos, Nigeria.

The project aims at stirring conversation and proffering solutions to the abuse of drugs with a focus on the students of the College of medicine, University of Lagos and Secondary School students.

The abuse herein covers both use of hard substances as well as the misuse of legal drugs and its repercussions.
SDG - The SDG in focus is SDG 3 - Good Health and wellbeing, in particular ; Section 5,which seeks to ;
Strengthen the prevention and treatment of substance abuse, including narcotic drug abuse and harmful use of alcohol.
UNAI principles ; the UNAI principle guiding our project is "Education for All" - A commitment to educational opportunity for all people regardless of gender, race, religion or ethnicity.

GOALS
Creating awareness on the menace and the repercussions of abuse on drugs. Especially as it pertains to students.
Understanding the causes or predisposing factors to abuse of drugs by the students.
Ensuring the 3,000 plus strong population of the college and about 1,000 students of selected secondary schools have access to counselling services and up to date information on drug abuse and ways to curb it.

About the Millennium Fellow

Elizabeth Aladelokun is a final year student of college of medicine , university of Lagos. Elizabeth served as group leader for various courses in her department,she is the general secretary of a yearly program themed "The catalyst" which prepares youth in achieving their maximum potentials,shes the former president of the fellowship of Christian nurses and also a member of the medical team in MFM international headquarters youth church.she is particularly about good health and wellbeing especially amongst children and also keen about fighting against drug abuse,she loves impacting to lives and also assist in seeking healthy behaviours
