ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2019

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship.  In the three months the application was open in 2019, over 7,000 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2019 on 1,209 campuses across 135 nations.  69 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 805 Millennium Fellows. 

During the Millennium Fellowship, Millennium Fellows' dedicated 96,705 hours and their 422 unique projects positively impacted the lives of 564,366 people worldwide.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Born Different Advocate Alliance

The Born Different Advocate Alliance (BDAA) is a student-run organization at Florida International University (FIU). The BDAA's mission statement is to ensure all students with disabilities have access to quality education and equal opportunities by providing peer tutoring services at high schools and career-related workshops at colleges across the United States.

About the Millennium Fellow

Afsaana Kiara Mohammed is an undergraduate student double majoring in International Relations and Political Science at Florida International University in Miami, Florida USA. She is pursuing a certificate in Peace Corps Prep and Middle Eastern Studies. Upon graduation, Kiara plans to earn a Master's degree in International Relations.

She is passionate about empowering young girls, protecting the environment and equal opportunities for all persons. Her main goal is to become a role model for the youth in her community as a young individual using her platform to speak out on some of the issues that affect them.
