ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2019
United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2019, over 7,000 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2019 on 1,209 campuses across 135 nations. 69 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 805 Millennium Fellows.
During the Millennium Fellowship, Millennium Fellows' dedicated 96,705 hours and their 422 unique projects positively impacted the lives of 564,366 people worldwide.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Girl-Child Survival movement
Girl-child survival movement is a project that seeks to empower two categories of young girls:
Girls in school and Girls who have dropped out of school.
For the girls who are in school, the project seeks to equip them with skills such as beading, crocheting or making tie and dye designs.
For the girls who have dropped out of school, they are equipped with skills such as making of hair and sewing.
By November hopefully, about 50 young girls will be equipped with at least one of these skills so as to empower them.
About the Millennium Fellow
Gertrude Akosah is my name. I am a third year Bsc. Geological Engineering student at the at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. I believe in the empowerment of a girlchild and capacity building and as a result, I have decided to come up with a movement that seeks to empower and equip young girls with skills and also educate them on the need for them to live up to their full potentials.
I like to read at my leisure and I also love to help others whenever I can.
