ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2019

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship.  In the three months the application was open in 2019, over 7,000 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2019 on 1,209 campuses across 135 nations.  69 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 805 Millennium Fellows. 

During the Millennium Fellowship, Millennium Fellows' dedicated 96,705 hours and their 422 unique projects positively impacted the lives of 564,366 people worldwide.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Step out for equality: A Voice of Women

The project Aimed at creating awareness about gender equality and empowering women.
The first stage wow the project was a social media campaign about importance of the female gender and importance of treating them right. The second stage saw to a physical advocacy on gender equality. We partner with an organization on campus to carry out this advocacy. We were able to meet one on one with females and even convince the male gender on the importance of the female gender and the need to allow for equal opportunities for the women and young girls.
And the last part of the project was village outreach and grand seminar on women empowering women

About the Millennium Fellow

Oluwafisayomi Oni is a student in Lagos state University, Nigeria, studying history and international relations. She has held many leadership positions, including, working as the vice president of the Student Society of History and International Studies . She likes public speaking especially speaking to young girls. She is a member of non governmental organization known as step Up Foundation. A foundation that reach out to secondary school and orientate them on current issues. So is also a volunteer for the Lagos food Bank. An organization that aims at achieving the SDG 2(Zero Hunger). she is willing to give back to her community to ensure development.
