" The road to an absolute gender equality in India is tough but not impossible. Members of Samatva team being students who have learned the ill effects of gender inequality has the capacity to understand or feel what others feel when they are discriminated. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Samatva - the voice for equality

Samatva is an initiative to promote gender equality in schools through activities, discussions and interactive sessions.
When researchers compared children who attended schools with gender-neutral practice to children from other schools, they found that those who had attended gender-neutral preschools had a reduced tendency to gender-stereotype and gender-segregate, which researchers say could widen the opportunities available to them.
Compared to children from other schools, children from gender-neutral school were:
•more likely to be interested in playing with children of the opposite gender
•less likely to make stereotypical assumptions based on gender
Gender-neutral practice in schools aims to reduce differences in the opportunities available to children of different genders.
Implementation
Conduct a 2 day event for students of class 6.
Day 1: short activities to figure out how gender neutral the students are (max. time:1hr).
Day 2: interactive session
