" I’m really excited to be a Millennium Fellow. I believe this will give me the opportunity to improve my leadership skills and help me meet like-minded individuals who are willing to come up with innovative ideas to make a social impact in their communities. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Aqua

My project centers on SDG-6, Clean water and sanitation which seeks to educate and enlighten youths, students and community individuals on the importance of clean water and how to imbibe and apply it to their every day activities. it also aims to educate young ones and people about good sanitation and personal hygiene practices with focus on the females folks especially those in secondary schools. Also to visit communities and educate them on clean water and sanitation and to also train them on how to make soap and disinfectants that can be used in their homes and communities.

During the project, I visited two schools where I trained over 500 students on first the importance of the SDG’s and how they came to be and then importance of clean water and sanitation. The students participated actively in the session where they asked and answered questions. We also got the names of some of the students who asked questions and participated actively so as to follow them up. A colleague of mine in the cohort also help to educate the female folks on how to maintain personal hygiene especially during their menstrual periods. They participated actively and got our contacts so as to ask further questions.
We also intend to visit the school frequently to get feedbacks on how they have been implementing what they have been taught.
