" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it is a platform that will enable me to work together with my peers, to come up with innovative solutions to the challenges facing our world today. Implementation of the SDGs at the local level is the best place to start. I believe an effective way of doing so, is having young people pulling ideas together and working as a team to be agents of change. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Pamoja For Turkana

Pamoja For Turkana is a project run by the youth who use their various talents to raise awareness and help drought victims in the Turkana region in Kenya. In April this year, we hosted an open mic event at The Alchemist, where we had various performances while others sold their artwork. We also sold our branded T-Shirts. We intend to use the same platform and host 2 more other events each reaching 100 people on the ground and hopefully hundreds more through social media.
Finally, the end goal is to have a concert that will bring together a host of entertainers and artists to raise awareness of the drought situation and how dire it is. All proceeds from the concert will eventually go into buying food and medicine for the people of Turkana.
