" I'm honoured and glad to be a part of the 2019 Millennium Fellowship and to be selected to join all those amazing young leaders. I hope to reach out and connect to like minded individuals and also bring awareness on life threatening issues such as poverty elevation and good health. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Unveiling the myth of sickle cell disease

My project aims to educate the general populace on the sickle cell disease, exposing the myth surrounding the disease and the need to check genotype status before marriage especially those that are healthy carriers of the genotype. My project will also reach out to persons whom are carriers of the sickle cell genotype, offer free genotype test to all in attendance and also offer professional counselling to those with AS and SS genotype.

My goal is to raise awareness on sickle cell disease so as to reduce the mortality rate of sickle cell children by creating proper awareness on the disease and the need to check genotype status before marriage. I believe that my project will help to remove some form of myth and stigma associated with the sickle cell disease and help people understand it's cause and how SCD even though may not be treatable, it can be managed.
