ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2019

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship.  In the three months the application was open in 2019, over 7,000 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2019 on 1,209 campuses across 135 nations.  69 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 805 Millennium Fellows. 

During the Millennium Fellowship, Millennium Fellows' dedicated 96,705 hours and their 422 unique projects positively impacted the lives of 564,366 people worldwide.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Education + purpose

*The project idea*
🖋 To encourage students( secondary schools ) in rural areas to pursue higher education in tertiary institutions.
Owing to there location and their exposure, majority tend to stop at secondary school level.

Also to expose the students to career choices in 21st century, teaching about the shift in the world need hence a better knowledge on how to meet such need by picking or pursuing a goal directed.

hence the aim of the project is to reach out to them through:

💡 *Career talks and symposium*: where they will be introduced to different career choices that they can key into and available funds provided by different bodies for this purpose.

💡Encouraging them by organising tutorials and getting committed ones registered for the entrance examination into higher institution in the country.

💡To also exposed them to simple projects that be presented at science competitions in the country.

The project aimed to target about 500 students across 10 schools( in rural areas most especially) in kwara state within the given time for the project.

Overall aim is to address dissatisfaction with life that in turns affects productivity and economic growth of the nation.

About the Millennium Fellow

AKINTOLA AKINWUMI, is a student of university of Ilorin, currently taking an undergraduate studies in Medicine and surgery.

He's passionate about seeing people maximize their life's at every level of existence: especially the schooling period. He's a strategic and innovative leader, with special interest in career counseling.

He's a trained leader, and currently taking leadership courses and involves in volunteer services especially medical outreaches.

He's also one of the millennium campus network fellows and united nations on academic and impact.
