ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2019

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship.  In the three months the application was open in 2019, over 7,000 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2019 on 1,209 campuses across 135 nations.  69 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 805 Millennium Fellows. 

During the Millennium Fellowship, Millennium Fellows' dedicated 96,705 hours and their 422 unique projects positively impacted the lives of 564,366 people worldwide.

" I am excited to be a Millennium fellow because it would enable me meet young people like myself who are passionate about making a positive change and it would also give me a platform to implement,enhance and promote the SDG I am working on.
I am concerned about people living a healthy life and hence feel the need to educate people on the importance of timely and proper health seeking behavior, especially in an environment where going to the hospital is not usually the first resort,this is aimed towards reducing mortality rates that are due late presentation to medical facilities. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Health2Wealth

Health2Wealth is a project aimed at enlightening people on the importance of good health, it's maintenance , good health care practices and how it is imminent that they present in a health care facility at the earliest onset of any ailment. Educate people on the various health insurance schemes that are available and how to utilize them properly. Young people would be educated on the importance of the good sexual practices in the absence of abstinence, this will reduce the prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases and incidence of unwanted pregnancy.
I intend to reach out to at least 1000 people through going to schools, holding seminars, holding free medical outreaches and granting on air interviews to aid in this publicity.

About the Millennium Fellow

Jennifer Ohanwe is a student in University of Portharcourt Nigeria studying Dentistry & Dental Surgery, she is presently the project director in her local organization and she's also a member of different non-governmental organizations where she is actively involved in volunteering activities which involves giving health talks, free medical outreaches, providing clean environments for healthy living.
She has worked as an organizer in associations geared towards educating the younger generation on sexually transmitted diseases and how to live a safe and healthy life.
She is also an activist who vehemently believes in gender equality and understands that balance is essential in achieving a good mental well being and as such volunteers to talk to the younger generation on importance of balance in every day life.
She believes that a healthy individual is well equipped to pursue his/her dream and hence can achieve remarkable feats.
