" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow as well as a member of the Free Period Project. To me, being a Millenium Fellow means using your voice for the greater good. It is my hope that our project sets a good foundation for gender equality on campus and sets a good example for campuses all over the world. We all have a voice, and we all have the ability to make a difference. Why not do it? "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Free Period

Free Period is a project devoted to increasing access to free feminine hygiene products on campus, as well as decreasing the stigma around women's health and hygiene. At Free Period, we believe that feminine hygiene products should be free and accessible to all as they are necessities for good health. Our goal is to provide free products in all of the major bathrooms across Washburn University's campus. This will impact at least three major buildings on campus: the student union, admissions building, and primary library. With the success of this pilot project, we hope to see it expand in the future to cover the entire campus.
