" I am excited to become a Millennium Fellow because it is my chance establish meaningful connections with students in my university as well as the wider Greek community in the context of Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, I am excited to learn from diverse people who have different perspectives from me. I also look forward to creating a foundation for further action in the future. There have not been many such chances to do so in Greece and I believe that this will prove a fruitful opportunity that will pave the path for many other Greek educational institutions to take part in the Millennium Fellowship. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: “United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Symposium: Exploring the DiverCity of Athens”

Project: During the Symposium discussions and workshops around SDG 5 Gender Equality, SDG 10 Reduced Inequality, SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production will be facilitated at the Deree The American College of Greece premises to inform and educate the public regarding these SDGs, as well as to create meaningful initiatives to promote and help achieve these aforementioned goals. More specifically, the symposium will focus on what it means to ensure equal opportunities for all, as well as explore ways to make this a reality. Additionally, sustainability promoting groups, organizations, municipalities, policy makers, and leaders will be invited and asked to share what they have done to promote sustainability practices, responsible consumption, discuss the importance and benefits of green infrastructure and how it can be achieved through urban planning, bringing everything in the context of EU policy. Finally, Greek Sustainable Fashion brands will be invited to speak and focus on the damage caused by fast fashion. The entire event will be available via a live stream service for any and all who wish to watch it and plans for action around the discussed SDGs will be generated after the conclusion of the event.
