" I am both thrilled to be part of the international effort that the Millennium Fellowship represents and excited to share in the global impact it makes. I believe that a healthy future is possible and achievable for all women, wherever they are, whoever they may be, and I am prepared to dedicate all my energy, effort, and enthusiasm to accomplish this goal through the Global Women's Health Initiative as a Millennium Fellow. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Global Women's Health Initiative

Global Women's Health Initiative (GWHI) is an organization with the mission to ensure that a healthy future is accessible for all women and girls. Using a three-pronged approach of examining women's health issues across the globe through the lens of arts, policy, and medicine, the team work to increase awareness of health challenges that women face worldwide. Specifically, their work is focused on bringing awareness to health issues through workshops, performances, speakers, & volunteer opportunities centered around a semester-specific theme.

GWHI intends to host three events based around the 2020 fall semester theme 'Race and Health Equity'. They recognize that many of the health problems women experience originate from racial and cultural stigma, and to effectively address them, they must unpack these issues at their core. They aim to engage at least 50 participants at each event and additionally lead 2 multi-institutional collaborations with other Millennium Fellows concerning women's health.
