" I am absolutely thrilled to have been selected as a Millennium Fellow. I have been strongly impacted personally by the outreach work that is run by my university. As a result, I have been doing my best to give back, and have been working hard in shaping and developing outreach initiatives for students that have experienced socioeconomic disadvantage. I'm really looking forward to the ways this Fellowship will help me further develop my skills so that I am able to work on these issues as effectively as possible. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Cambridge Access Movement

The Cambridge Access Movement is a significant expansion of the outreach-focused social media run under the umbrella of Cambridge SU by a large group of student volunteers. The project looks to build a brand, including a YouTube channel, blog, Instagram, Facebook, and podcast, WP related content. The target audiences are 16-18 years with interests in A-Levels and related tags, as well as any age range with interests in postgraduate UK courses. We look to gain 100 volunteers by December 2020, have the movement shared amongst the main widening participation networks associated with the university shortly following September 15th launch (Cambridge Admissions Office, Schools' Liaison Officer Group, Cambridge Seren Support Group), along with gaining press coverage and reaching a net reach of 200,000. We are hoping to keep engagement above 5% through the first few months following launch, to ensure that growth in the audience doesn't lead to a dilution of engagement with content produced.
