UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT KHUSHI SHARMA, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2020.
University of Delhi | New Delhi, India | Advancing SDG 1 & UNAI 1
" I feel absolutely honored to be selected as a Millennium Fellow, 2020. It is a great opportunity that will help my dream of Reducing Inequality in the society become a reality. I hope to impart basic education, sanitation and skills to underprivileged women and children in the slums on Urban India so that they can earn an income enough to live a healthy lifestyle: three full meals a day, a roof over their head and clothes to cover their body. I am excited to work with like-minded individuals from all over the world and broaden my horizon of knowledge and experience. I assure that I would work with the most sincerity, hardwork and passion. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Vihaan
I plan to initiate my individual project called 'Vihaan', meaning 'the first ray of sun' in August. It will aim to bring a new morning to the underprivileged children and women of Delhi NCR. The project will strive for basic education, sanitary needs and an income enough for the underprivileged to have a healthy lifestyle. All over the country 541 million people lack access to improved sanitation, even if I am able to implement the project in the National Capital Region, I will directly impact 2 million people. We can save 500 children every day below the age of 5 who are lost to diseases like diarrhea and cholera caused by lack of basic sanitation. Next, by providing basic education, I will not only be impacting their lives but also their family's. Given the situation of the pandemic, I plan to contact each small-wage worker, household-help and vendors around my home to create awareness about the project and begin a movement which addresses the issue.
