Florida International University | Florida, United States | Advancing SDG 5 & UNAI 6
" I am so excited to be part of the Millennium Fellowship because it is an excellent opportunity to do something bigger than myself and go out of my comfort zone. Also, I want to fight for Human rights because I am Indian/ Venezuela and know not to have a voice, and this fellowship is a way I work on that. This opportunity is going not just to help me but prepare the next generation of women to acquire the skills of language skills, diplomacy, the subject matter of expertise, and understanding of the culture to have a platform to develop their projects. Lastly, I have committed to making sure to reduce gender inequality and impact the lives of women in my community. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Own your crown
Own your crown can be described as a social organization that empowers women to advance their careers and quality of life by establishing mentorship opportunities, providing informational resources, and creating a community of women that fosters thoughtful guidance and empowerment.
As the project commences within the local university setting, their first wish is to aid the 33,000 female students that attend FIU. As their programs expand within such academic settings, they wish to expand their services for the 73,000 female college students residing within the city. They hope to expand programs and services to reach an international scale, although they understand that time and active participation is needed in order to steadily gain visibility within online platforms and other means of communication.
