UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT ANNA TWOMEY, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2020.
Griffith University | Queensland, Australia | Advancing SDG 10 & UNAI 2
" I am excited to be apart of this year's Millennium Fellowship because it's a fantastic opportunity to use my craft to have a profound social impact and help empower others. Filmmaking is an incredibly powerful tool for amplifying voices that might otherwise go unheard. Through participating in the Fellowship I will receive mentorship and advice that helps me increase the net total of people positively impacted my team's project. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Social Impact Video Project
The project will source a social enterprise in their local community, who couldn't otherwise afford to produce professional-quality promotional video content. The team will spend time with them and gain insight into what they do, then they will plan, film and edit a video that explains the story and goals of the organisation. This can then be distributed on their social media/website to raise awareness and attract the attention of potential donors/volunteers.
The project team has created video content for social enterprises before, but this time they want to increase their impact. They are aiming for a minimum of 20 shares and 200 likes on the original Facebook post. For an up-and-coming social enterprise, this amount of engagement should allow for a sizable increase in their audience. Other effects will include an increase in: followers of the organisation page; donations/volunteers; website/social media page clicks.
About the Millennium Fellow
The only thing Anna enjoys more than watching movies is making them. Lately she's been focused on shooting videography content for social enterprises, including recent projects with HopeBox Vietnam, Endeavour Foundation and Griffith ENACTUS. She finds herself coming back to social enterprise projects because she finds it incredibly rewarding to use her craft to promote organisations with profound social impacts. She is thoroughly enjoying her time at film school. Though currently trying to absorb as much as possible about all the different skills required to make a great film, she aspires to end up as a writer/director.
