Millennium Fellowship Project: Student Council On Legal Aid
The project is a Council managed by Students of the University of Ibadan. It is the Student arm of the Oyo State Council on Legal Aid. We offer free legal aid services to people in the University. Therefore we take up cases of injustice and fight it to the very end. Our motto is for the least of our brethren. This means that we stand for those who can't stand for themselves either because don't have the financial capacity or they do but are scared. We also stand for people who have the financial capacity. Our main aim is for justice to be done irrespective of how difficult it is. To do this, we make use of Soliciting, Mediation, Arbitration and Litigation. We however only operate within the four walls of the University and can't operate outside of the walls because we haven't been called to the Nigerian Bar as we are still students. Our goal is in line with the Sixteenth (16th) goal of the Sustainable Development Goal which is PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS. Therefore as a Council, we have sought waya to bring peace andbto also settle disputes that may arise between people im the University environment
