" The most horrifying moment of my life was when I gave a child beggar an orange while waiting for the green signal, only to find as it turned green that he had no idea how to peel it. I had been so proud of my fledging activism before that day. I want my actions to matter, I believe the Millennium Fellowship will teach me how. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Mann-ki-tales
This project seeks to evaluate the impact of toxic masculinity on men, with emphasis on college students. Even amongs mates, emotional vulnerability shown is negatively proportionate to the weight of the bottle in their hand. The team hopes to scientifically survey college students and explore the potential of a causal relationship between effects ' ranging from suppression of emotions, stunted relationships, to fear of emasculation' with cultural norms of toxic masculinity. Through results and inferences of this study, they hope to sensitize and encourage opening up of bottled emotions without unscrewing a cork.
About the Millennium Fellow
Aryan is a second year at IIT Madras. His childhood drive for change, inspired by Abdul Kalam's PURA first manifested in schoolyard coups that never quite took off a fate he hopes his Millennium Project will avoid. Ping if you're into data-driven policy making, or desiltation!
