UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT GAYATHRI CHANDRAN, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2020.
IIT Madras | Chennai, India | Advancing SDG 13 & UNAI 9
" Coming from an engineering background, this is a great opportunity for me to work on issues I have been deeply passionate about. The fellowship has given me the platform to connect and work with like-minded people and learn from them in the process. Sustainable development is of intrinsic value in every activity that we pursue, but is often sidelined in our everyday pursuits. As a student, this gives me the opportunity to make an impact in my immediate surroundings. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Campus Climate Collective
The project aims to set up a climate study centre which brings together research under the domain of climate, energy, and environment - mainly fuel cells/battery capabilities, air quality, electric vehicles and clean fuel, sustainable cities and built environment, clean water, and green enterprise marketing.
Being a technological institute, the aim is to make the institutions’ contributions to this field more cohesive. Research in climate technologies currently suffers from isolated projects in various departments that could greatly benefit from collaboration. The project brings together students and researchers working on the same area, from across disciplines, onto a common knowledge and resource sharing platform. Being situated in an eco-sensitive zone sprawling 636 acres sets the perfect background for IIT Madras to lead by example.
The goal is to set up a one-stop destination that creates opportunities for research scholars and students to network and collaborate with professors across disciplines, having an internal peer review pre-print server, sharing research in the domain faster and more efficiently and facilitating a center capable of conducting conferences, hosting a board of directors of expert academics and industry leaders in the domain and being an avenue for sponsored research.
