Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Dhyan

Hazards may turn into disasters if vulnerable situations and the communities are neglected. Disaster management, therefore, needs to be community oriented, taking into account the levels of vulnerability among people. My project will further lead towards Community Based Disaster Preparedness that involves the mobilization of various groups of people and students in a systematic way towards achieving a safe and resilient community prepared to face any disaster. This is a fundamental step towards creating sustainable communities in the context of prevailing threats of global derangements such as climate change and Pandemics like the Covid 19 outbreak. The major objectives of the project are identification of the most climate vulnerable spaces in Delhi, address integration of gender, caste - class dimensions in mitigation and adaptation to Climate Change, Mapping the awareness level of people. This will help in instilling community based disaster preparedness and address the need for social awareness and gender sensitivity as well.
