ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2020

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2020, 15,159 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2020 on 1,458 campuses across 135 nations.  80 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 1,000+ Millennium Fellows.  The Class of 2020 is bold, innovative, and inclusive.

" I am excited to be part of Millennium Fellowship because it is a great opportunity to work together with other like-minded young people in order to make positive impact in their communities and nations. I am working on health promotion because good health and well-being is very essential for the socioeconomic advancement of society. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Community Health Promotion

This project aims at also promoting the general health of such communities which is critical for socioeconomic advancement. A key strategy to promoting health will be public education on some common infections in the country like malaria, COVID-19, meningitis etc. Antibiotic resistance, which is a critical health issue will also be addressed. Those with chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension etc. will be addressed so that the necessary measures are taken to optimally manage them. A projected number of about 1500 people will be positively impacted by this project.

About the Millennium Fellow

Bishop Essuah Essien is a fifth-year Doctor of Pharmacy student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana. He's also part of the United Nations Students Association at KNUST where he serves as a Diplomatic Hour Moderator for the association's Educational Committee. Some of his interest include: health promotion, youth empowerment and entrepreneurship. Bishop's hobbies include: listening to music and playing football.
