" I am thrilled to be a Millennium Fellow because it will give me the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on my college campus. I hope to foster a culture of sustainability and a greater concern for the environment. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Students for Sustainability

Students for Sustainability aims to put environmental consciousness at the forefront of college education. Every college student should graduate with an in-depth understanding of environmental problems and their solutions and hopefully with a commitment to sustainability. They intend to achieve this by creating an educational sustainability module for incoming students to complete that will include a section for calculating one's carbon footprint. They also wish to make it a requirement for students to plant 10 trees and take a course in the Environmental Studies Department in order to graduate.

About the Millennium Fellow

Adriana Moreno is a rising junior at New York University where she studies Environmental Science and Politics. She is a first-generation immigrant and college student. On campus, Adriana serves as the Student Representative on the Sustainability Advisory Group and the Student Ambassador to the Environmental Studies Department. Her future goal is to help address the racial disparities exacerbated by climate change and other environmental issues.
