ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2020
United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2020, 15,159 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2020 on 1,458 campuses across 135 nations. 80 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 1,000+ Millennium Fellows. The Class of 2020 is bold, innovative, and inclusive.

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Asake Initiative
The Asake Initiative is an project aimed at alleviating the pressure posed by poverty on the indigenes of the South Western Nigeria through women empowerment schemes and mentorship. An estimate of about 50-100 people should be positively impacted during the duration of the fellowship
To measure the impact of the project, we empower 50 women with skills to earn a living as well as structure mentorship platforms for 20 girls in the community. The empowered girls would also go on the educate those around them. Due to the global pandemic, safety precautionary measures such as use of sanitizers, nose masks and face shield employed as well as educating the community members on the virus.
About the Millennium Fellow
Iyanuloluwa Akindahunsi is currently in her 4th year in medical school at Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. She is a member of the Alumni Relations Committee, IARC of her medical association where She is saddled with the responsibility of bridging the gap between the alumni body, association and college. She is involved in volunteer organizations such as Happiness Club, where She serves as the head coordinator and Home Advantage Africa. She is committed to the development of the society through poverty alleviation and quality education.
