" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because I am looking forward to develop a project that will positively impact the lives of the youth in my community and improve their accessibility to opportunities and quality education. As a fellow, collaborating with like-minded peers to raise awareness and possibly change lives as a collective, is a great way to grow into the leader I aspire to be. I can't wait to begin developing a promising project that can expand into uplifting and supporting the youth everywhere with their educational journey. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Challenge Accepted

Challenge Accepted is about empowering students transitioning to high school, 8th graders, to pursue higher education. Aissatou will be conducting research on and benchmarking 8th graders that eventually attend college and public schools with students who are at high risk of dropping out. A path plan will be designed for 8th grade students to complete throughout the year that helps them plan goals to accomplish, including attending college and career plans. Aissatou's ultimate goal is to reach out to schools in hopes to implement this in NYC public middle schools and help students be optimistic about their future. This will include bringing college students from the campus to speak to middle school students to show them that it's possible to attend college coming from a similar background in hopes to inspire them.

About the Millennium Fellow

Aissatou is a rising junior at Pace University pursuing a dual degree in Accounting and Political Science with a minor in pre-law. Her hobbies include playing volleyball and spending time with family. She hopes to pursue a degree in International Law after college and build a career in the UN.
