" I believe that the Millennium Fellowship will open new opportunities for creating global change. As a supporter of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, I feel that it is up to my generation to be proactive in finding ways to succeed in reaching these goals. I am excited to be a part of a team that is like minded and driven to create impactful change in our communities. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Next Step Forward
Project Integration works to lessen the chances of a new identification holder to relapse back into homelessness. The project works alongside a nonprofit organization called IDignity, which provides resources for identification to primarily the homeless population. Although having a valid form of identification is the first step to integrate into a stable lifestyle, it is hard to insert oneself into an already working, evolving and advanced working environment. The project will provide an extra layer of resources to clients of IDiginity who have new forms of identification, to then help them know what their option and next steps may be. Examples range from writing a college application to interviewing for a job etc. These resources will be established using data collected from experienced college students and surveys as to what the biggest needs in the community are. The final product will be a physical copy of resources and places people can go to receive services for their next step priorities.
About the Millennium Fellow
Madhavi is a third year student at Rollins College in Florida. She is pursuing her bachelor's degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Social Entrepreneurship. She is passionate about service and spends most of her days volunteering at local non-profits. Having lived most of her life in Zimbabwe and seeing first-hand how poverty affects people on a global scale, she understands how vital interacting with the challenges our world presents is in the field of global changemaking. Madhavi hopes to spend the next year developing a project that combines student initiates and sustaining stable lifestyles in the homeless community.
