" I am unbelievably grateful and honoured to be part of the Millennium Fellowship this year because it is an opportunity for me to give back to a community that has not only welcomed me but has also been incredibly kind to me. Working to end avoidable maternal and infant deaths is close to my heart because it signifies the renewed outlook I have on motherhood. It is of extreme importance that we safeguard expectant mothers and new-born born babies by eliminating systemic incapacity and errors that negatively affect their fragile states. We owe it to them. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Mama
Mama aims to improve maternal and infant well-being while decelerating their mortality rates. It includes an app that is basically an expectant mother's companion and overseer of the babies. We also intend to work hand in hand with other stakeholders to especially tackle these mortality rates in impoverished communities by providing necessary medication, nutrients and medical kits and/training to the medical professionals in these areas to efficiently equip with the knowledge and tools necessary to increase survival rates. By December 2020, we hope to have delivered the necessary materials to the communities and at least fifty users of the Mama app.
