" I am beyond excited to have the Millennium Fellowship as a platform to help our older citizens, especially at a time when they are being disproportionately affected by COVID. The generations of people who came before us have given us everything, and I believe, as young citizens of the world, our duty is to advocate for our elders. I look forward to learning from fellow young people who are passionate about creating positive change. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Golden Citizens Project

The goal of the Golden Citizens Project is to establish a partnership between younger and older people of our community in order to amplify the voices of elderly people. This will be a three-pronged effort consisting of fundraising, advocacy for policy change, and writing. Our goal is to raise at least $2,000 for local organizations that help elderly people. As for policy change, we will research and conduct interviews with the purpose of creating videos and other media to encourage lawmakers to pass legislation that recognizes the right to equality for our elderly citizens. We will also create a book of at least ten stories shared by nursing home residents. We believe their stories deserve to be shared and that, by reading these stories, more younger people will be inclined to advocate for our elders.
